Another lovely paddling day, another hard to get off the water day. November is one of our best months here on the Monterey Bay. Generally sunny, most mid-days warmer than summer mornings (aka over 60, sometimes 70), cool evenings/nights.
Eared Grebes
Assorted grebes, ducks, not sure who all is part of this group that hangs out together.
Harbor seals
Coming out of the Slough into the harbor…and I love Sea Lions!
Saw the most bizarre contraption when I was getting ready to leave, so I stuck around for an hour and a half (egads) while Doug set it up and got it going (most of that time was him talking to people, like me, asking what in the world is that thing). It (amphibious trike) arrived on a trailer pulled behind his Honda Element. He drove it, on its own wheels, down the boat ramp and into the water – where it became a boat, floating on its pontoons. He boated (there’s a big propeller/fan motor on the back) through North Harbor to the harbor mouth, where he lifted into the air and flew (with the hang-glider wings and propeller) up the coast. It looked really fun and his plan s to give rides professionally (he’s studied for over a year to become a licensed pilot).
